August/September

During the months of August and September, Bobby has been a busy boy learning to officially start walking. He has known how to walk for a while, we are certain that he just wanted to make sure it was perfected before he started. Within the first week, he was bending down and picking up a ball without holding on to anything -- he's an old pro already!
At the beginning of August, Bobby made the official move from his infant room to the toddler room at daycare. He was more than ready to make this move, so we didn't have a hard time transitioning at all. He is doing so well in his new room with his new friends (except for the boy that likes to bite him). He even naps well on his cot and sometimes sleeps for almost 3 hours. Sometimes we even go to pick him up and he doesn't want to come home.

Besides that, not a whole lot has been going on. We're just hanging around for the summer and having some fun!

Bobby was home sick from school with Roseola for a few days. He was very cuddly and wanted to lay down on his mom or a pillow the whole time. Trooper!

First time falling asleep in his lunch.

At the park with Daddy. He had such a good time watching holding Daddy's hand and watching the other kids run around.
Enjoying a snack on the couch.
On the slide with dad....
Was kind of unsure of the slide, but he did well!
Watching Daddy work on the deck while he was home sick from daycare.
Enjoying a tomato from the garden (not picking his nose). And breaking in the new shoes from Grandma. He looks so grown up!

Beach Baby

Bobby went to the beach for his first time today! We went to meet one of Reggie's friends in New Buffalo for the day. We first ate lunch at Redamak's and then headed to Warren Dunes. It was a beautiful day for the beach - 75, sunny and a little breezy. The water was too rough for Bobby to swim in Lake Michigan, but he had a great time playing around in the sand and checking everything out . Reggie and his friend dug down in the beach to find some good wet sand for building sand castles too. Everyone had a great time!

What a busy month!

Wow, Bobby has had a busy month! There are some pictures below of his adventures over the last several weeks. A couple of big developments: 1) He is starting to drop his afternoon nap so he is awake a few more hours a day to enjoy all of his activities; 2) He is starting to get more confident in his walking and we're convinced he knows how to walk - he's just waiting until he can do it perfectly; 3) Yesterday he started his transition to the next classroom at daycare. He has lots of familiar faces in his new classroom and did great for the hour he was there yesterday. In a few weeks he will be leaving his infant room behind to play with the big kids all day!

On Father's Day, Bobby helped Daddy put together his new exercise machine. He had a blast and Reggie said it was on of the funnest days he has ever had. I think we'll start a tradition now of Bobby and Daddy activities on Father's Day!

Bobby's first time in the creek. He LOVED it!
Bobby was at Sha Sha and Pop's house. He was looking at a picture of Sha Sha holding Harris and him. He kept laughing and laughing and laughing.

First time in the big boy pool. Just as we predicted - he loved it!
Splash! Splash!
" Mom - this is awesome!!"
Motor boat! Motor boat!

1 year old!

Bobby turned 1 year old on June 4th. I can't believe a year has gone by already.... This time last year I was a nervous wreck trying to figure out how to handle a new baby and wondering what the years ahead would hold for us. I can't believe it's gone by so quickly! On top of his birthday party, Bobby also had his 1 year check up at the doctor. He is 22 lb 7 oz (50th percentile), 30 3/4 inches long (75% percentile) and his head is still in the 97th percentile at 19 1/4 inches. He had 3 shots at the doctor and had his finger pricked for a blood test. He was a real trooper for all of it. He didn't mind the finger poke and first 2 shots at all. The last one was the MMR shot which they said would sting a little -- he didn't really like that one. But he only cried a few seconds and he was all set. We found out he had an ear infection too. So all in all, he had a rough day at the doctor, but he's taking it all like a big boy now!
His birthday party was on Saturday June 6th and he had a good time hanging out with friends and family. When he plays he makes monkey sounds, so we had a monkey themed party, complete with monkey cakes from Dainty Maid. They were sooooo good! Bobby ate a little bit of cake and opened his presents (kind of) and had a good time entertaining everyone!

Playing on the Deck

With the weather warming lately, we've been able to spend time on the deck a few nights a week. Bobby absolutely loves to be outside.

Dinner

Here are a couple pictures from Bobby's latest "Adventures in Dinner Time" These pictures are meatballs with marinara sauce... I think most of the sauce ended up in his hair.

Fun times in North Carolina

Bobby spent 10 days in North Carolina and had a great time! We spent lots of time with Aunt Jill, Uncle Matt, cousin Harris, Aunt Tessa, and Uncle Steve. We drove down there - about 12 hours. He did really well, for the most part. Afternoons were tough for him because he wanted to get out and crawl around, but he was such a trooper. The DVD player and Curious Buddies video were defintely a sanity-saver on the way home! Here are some pictures from his adventures down south!

New Favorite Activity

We're on vacation at Sha-Sha and Pops house in North Carolina and Bobby has discovered the magnet letters and numbers on the fridge. We've spent a lot of time putting the letters on, taking them off, putting them on, taking them off, etc, etc. We'll have to get a pack of these toys when we get back home!

9 Month Check up

Bobby had his 9 month check up (a few weeks ago....) and everything went well. The best part - no shots!! He had been a very, very happy for for the last few weeks, so we were excited not to have any shots to ruin it. Since the last post he's gotten his two bottom teeth and one of the top teeth has popped through. He is crawling all over the place and has started "cruising" around the furniture.
Watch me go!

Fun in the Kitchen

Bobby has learned how to get up the step from his playroom into the kithen and has had fun exploring all the new 'toys'. He has long since mastered the art of crawling and is now pulling up on to things. He has gotten a few "boo boo badges" at school from pulling up on things and taking a tumble, but he's gotten much better.
I've been gone 2-3 nights a week working in Chicago, so Reggie's mom has been so kind to take videos and send them to me while I'm gone! Although it's nice to get a full night's sleep while I'm away, I certainly do miss my two favorite boys!

Merry Christmas... Happy New Year... Been slackin!

It's been quite a while since I've written with any Bobby updates. Mom and dad have both been pretty busy with work - and when we haven't been working, we've been helping Bobby to get over his latest ailment.... Since his last posting, Bobby has had quite a lot going on. Right after his 6 month check up, there was a pinkeye scare at daycare and Bobby had a bit of it for a couple of days. Then near the end of the week he spiked a fever and developed a very bad cold. It turned out he had RSV, which was no picnic. He lost a couple of pounds and was a pretty sick boy over the holidays. But what a trooper he was -- as long as we kept him entertained he forgot how yucky he felt! Then after the 1st of the year, he developed a stomach virus and was throwing up all night on Bobby and Dad's first night alone together. After a few days of pedialyte, he started to get back to normal and then regressed later the next week. It was, again, on a night that I was away for work - Bobby threw up again in the middle of the night. Reggie and his mom took Bobby to the doctor and found out that his stomach bug has caused him to have an intolerance to his milk-based formula. So, we switched things up and got him back into the swing of things. He was on soy based formula all weekend long. It stayed in him much better - but man, oh man, does he STINK!!! The nurse said because of the rice in it, he will have some gas and it will take a while to get used to. Hopefully this will be the last thing he has to deal with for a while. He has lost 2 oz since his 6 month check up, so he needs to stay healthy to keep packing on the pounds!
While Bobby has been sick for the past 6 weeks, he's also grown up quite a bit. He is now crawling all over the place. Gone are the days of the whole family laying in bed together on Saturday morning. Bobby likes to get up and go! He has also learned how to sit up without support. Sometimes he gets really excited, flaps his arms and tips over, but does pretty well sitting up otherwise. At daycare last week, he started taking after his bigger friends and pulled himself up on the shelves. Luckily, they noticed it soon enough and caught him both times when he fell over. He is a little stinker. We're hoping that he won't learn to walk very soon.... it's all over once that happens!!

Besides that, nothing else too major has been going on in Bobby's life. Here are several pictures from the last 6 weeks!
